From Little League’s Maria Pepe Legacy Series in Williamsport and See Her Be Her’s premier during the World Series to the announcement of an upcoming women’s professional baseball league (WPBL), 2024 has been a year of visibility and momentum for our girls baseball community.

DC Girls Baseball players are driving that momentum forward every single day. They’re competing on their middle and high school teams; they’re finding each other when their travel teams compete across DC, MD and VA; they’re earning awards for their hustle and team-minded spirit (Slaterettes Classic and BFA Nationals teams!); they’re taking the title locally (ASBR spring champions!) and on the road (10U!); they’re increasing their swings outside of practice to improve the quality of their at bats. They’re rising early on Sunday mornings to put in the work - some driving hours to join. They’re spreading the word about girls baseball by creating podcasts, appearing in the local news, and volunteering their time to introduce younger players to the game. They’re keeping bonds with long-time DCGB friends and embracing new teammates.
